Cabbage Diet

You've probably heard of the cabbage diet, also commonly referred to as the cabbage soup diet. On this diet your main source of sustenance is a soup made from this cruciferous vegetable. While there is no denying the benefits of cabbage for dieters, one should take care to review both the pros and cons of such a diet before trying it for themselves. A consultation with your physician or a dietician is also recommended before implementing any new diet or exercise plan.


One significant benefit of the cabbage diet is that you are consuming a vegetable that is rich in nutrients. Also, cabbage contains various compounds that encourage fat burning in the body. These are the same compounds that give cabbage being cooked that unique aroma that some may refer to as an odor. Cabbage soup is also great for hydration because of the amount of water it contains. However you will want to also consume other healthy foods. Examples of foods recommended for most everyone include lots of fruits and vegetables, wild salmon, whole grains, lowfat dairy and ample water intake. It is important to know when to eat such foods at what time for maximum results.
